Alejandro C

Hi, my name is Alejandro Castillo, in June 2015 I moved from Nicaragua to Yuba City, California. I’m an IT professional graduated in Nicaragua. I’ve been doing capoeira since February 2007 with the “Grupo Capoeira Angola Nicaragua”. Since I began, it took me a week to feel that capoeira will be an important part of my life as a way to be an active person.

After more than nine years, I have realized that capoeira is more than a sport; it is an art expression that has helped me be more social, confident and a respectful person. Capoeira is one of my strongest passions.

The Group

We are a small group of children and a couple of adults, dedicated to education and practice of the Afro-Brazilian martial art form of Capoeira Angola. Capoeira Angola combines martial arts, dance, music, movements, philosophy and oral tradition into a dynamic art focused on liberating people and building community. You can read more about capoeira in the “About” menu.

We practice Mondays and Wednesdays at 6 pm at Allyn Scott Youth and Community Center in Marysville, Northern California (see map below for directions).

You can try Capoeira, the first class is free and if you like it, you stay.

The monthly participation fee is $40 per participant.
